FORZA CLARINET EXCERPTS

Using Split View on iPad

With Split View on iPad, two windows can be open side by side, so it is possible to view both an excerpt page and its corresponding PDF sheet music (or YouTube video) at the same time. This is a fantastic solution if you like to use Forza Excerpts' sheet music digitally, instead of printing it.

Split View is available when iPad is in both portrait and landscape modes, but in this instance landscape mode is recommended.

  1. Open Safari, head to www.forzaexcerpts.com and sign in to your account.
  2. Press and hold the ‘new window’ button in the top right corner of the screen. (The icon on the button shows two overlapping squares).
  3. Tap New Window. The Forza Excerpts website will move to the left side of your screen.
  4. You will see a divider in the centre of the screen. Press the small grey handle in the centre of the divider and drag it to the left so that the Forza Excerpt web page occupies a third of the screen area. (This action invokes the website interface that is displayed on mobile devices).
  5. Head to an excerpt page - how about Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 2?
  6. Scroll down the page to the PDF Sheet Music section.
  7. Press and hold the download link for the sheet music and tap Open in New Window.
  8. The PDF sheet music will load in the right window.
  9. Back in the left window, scroll up the page to access the Audio Player.

Your iPad screen will look like this:

If you have downloaded one of the Forza Excerpts sheet music documents containing all of the excerpts, there is method for using Split View to view both the Forza Excerpts website and the sheet music at the same time. For this functionality you will need access to the Files app in the iPad Dock:

  1. Open Safari and sign in to your Forza Excerpts account.
  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the dock.
  3. Press and hold the Files app icon and drag it up and over to the right edge of the screen.
  4. You will see a divider in the centre of the screen. Press the small grey handle in the centre of the divider and drag it to the left so that the Forza Excerpt web page occupies a third of the screen area. (This action invokes the website interface that is displayed on mobile devices). The Files app will occupy the other two thirds.
  5. In Safari, go to an excerpt page.
  6. In the Files app, locate and open the sheet music document, and find the excerpt that you need.

Your iPad screen should now look like this:
